1. Watch Dogs
Watch Dogs will be released on November 19th 2013, so it’s the perfect game to add to your Christmas wish list. It’s a sci-fi survival game set in a future where hacking is the key to everything. Expect a visually beautiful in-game world, the freedom to explore, explosive action and a compelling plot – it looks amazing! This makes the top of my soon to be released Xbox games list as I can’t wait to play it!
2. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
Released for Xbox 360 on February 11th 2014, Lightning Returns features a brand new story and enhanced gameplay. This latest installment in the long-running Final Fantasy series is sure to wow existing Final Fantasy fans, whilst introducing new players to the games too. Better book some time off work for this great new release!

3. Thief
This stylish game by Square Enix will be released on February 25th 2014 for Xbox One, so it’s just one reason to get your hands on the new Xbox One console! You play Garrett, the master thief, and the game’s intelligent design allows you to choose your own path, affecting the outcome of the game – I won’t give away any more!
4. Ryse: Son of Rome
This slick action adventure game for Xbox One will be loved by fans of the action RPG genre. With no specific release date set yet, this game by developers Crytek is set to boast amazing graphics – Crytek are known for their visually stunning games! A thoroughly entertaining story, little details such as gory blood spatter and sound effects and plenty of weapons make this game one to look forward to.
5. Halo 5
This is probably one of the most anticipated games for Xbox fans, and will be an Xbox One exclusive, with a rumoured release date of December 31st 2014. Running at a super-fast 60 frames per second, there isn’t much more information available on the story, but Halo fans will be waiting with bated breath for this next installment in the popular series!
6. Quantum Break
The creators of Alan Wake and Max Payne have developed Quantum Break, a game which blurs the lines between television entertainment and gaming. This story-led action packed game sees you bending time in order to survive, and it’s an Xbox One exclusive. This is set to be one of 2014’s top releases!
7. The Division
There had to be a post-apocalyptic game in the mix somewhere in this list of Xbox games, and I’m very pleased that The Divison is it! Tom Clancy’s latest game is set in a post-pandemic New York City, and you’ll play a Division agent trying to find out who is behind the release of a man-made virus, whilst also fighting the virus’ effects! This game looks set to be visually breathtaking, with all the style you would expect from a Tom Clancy game – I can’t wait!
8. Below
Below for Xbox One uses the Kinect feature to change your level progression based on the room’s surroundings, and is the tale of a classic rogue battling evil darkness to find loot and carry out quests. It’s an intriguing little game, with the release date yet tbc, and it’s well worth checking out the teaser trailers online.
9. The Evil within
Developed by Tango Gameworks, this survival horror has been directed by Shinki Makami, who was responsible for Resident Evil. With a 2014 release date, this game is set to be a huge hit. With an intricate story set in an immersive world, the beautiful environments and terrifying gameplay will leave you reaching for the light switch – don’t play this alone!
These are my top 9 releases for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but there are sure to be plenty I’ve missed off this list. What are some of the games you’re looking forward to for Christmas 2013 and early 2014?
